Finishing Calender::
Mostly, Finishing Calenders are used as an accessory part to the thermo-bonding
process.
Examples are the surface finishing, hardening, the calibration of the Nonwoven
to a defined thickness and density by volume and lamination.
For these applications either Cold Calenders or Hot Calenders can be used in
dependence on the requirements to the end product.
Merely, if the Nonwoven is very light, to ca. 40 g/m2, a adequate
thermo-bonding by means of Calenders will be achieved.
The material is guided through two horizontal arranged rolls with defined
gap. To guarantee a perfect heat transmission, the required pressure on the web
can be achieved by means of pneumatic cylinders or precision worm gear jacks.
A sturdy frame with less stiffening, less vibration and short process
tolerances guarantees a constant contact pressure and a minimal temperature
difference across the whole working width.
