Water-Based Or Solvent-Based Polyurethane Split Upgrading Lines A good number of these plants have been produced by Fratelli Carlessi, even if they have not been advertised very much. Their aim is to enhance products such as splits and very degrained hides. Two large distinctions can be made according the chemical products used during the working cycle of these plants: - solvent-based polyurethanes; - water-based polyurethanes.
The choice between these two alternatives is made according to the final product to be obtained and to its subsequent usage. As far as they are concerned, Fratelli Carlessi have always given priority to the requirements of the chemical process instead of the needs of the actual mechanical part of the plant. Since the chemical product used is very important, we consider that the first step to be taken by a Customer who intends to buy such a plant, is to contact a chemical product supplier and to define the intrinsically chemical side of the process; after this, it will be possible to decide, from the mechanical point of view, which plant is the most suitable for the chemical process chosen.
